Fry of the British chocolate-making family J. S. Fry & Sons of Bristol, by the age of twenty-one months he had already traveled 72,000 km (45,000 miles). Milestones included cutting his first tooth on the China Sea, learning to creep in Colombo (Ceylon), speaking his first words in Calcutta, and taking his first steps in England. After time spent in California, in 1912 the family boarded the Japanese liner Tenyo Maru, bound for the Orient and then England, to be home in time for the child’s second birthday

J. S. Fry, a passenger on the Tenyo Maru, which arrived here this morning, is a millionaire and son of J. S. Fry, the well-known chocolate manufacturer. This fact, however, seems to be overshadowed by the Fry’s twenty-one months old baby, which has traveled 45,000 miles in its short life.

For about two years he had been traveling across every state and major city in the United States. After spending time in California, where he attended the Pan-American Exposition, he set out again toward the Pacific. Juvenile globetrotter visits city. Jimmie Erickson, age 13, juvenile globetrotter of the world, paid the city a visit last evening. Jimmie’s home address is Crookston, Minn. He has just paid his native home a visit. A month ago he bid his Frisco friends a hasty “good-bye” with the promise he would return in ninety days’ time. He is apparently going to make good his promise, for in two days he has traveled one-fifth the distance to his rendezvous.

There they sold their bikes and purchased a small boat to continue their journey to Palestine. Off the coast of Caesarea, the vessel was caught in a storm and ran aground. - Description: Vittorio Beonio Brocchieri combined his academic career with work as a pilot and foreign correspondent for Corriere della Sera in the 1930s. In 1930, he flew to Greenland in a Caproni Ca.100 biplane, where he identified human remains and climbed an area later named Brocchieridalen. Between 1931 and 1934, he undertook long-distance flights such as Milan–Baghdad, Sudan, and Rome–Irkutsk–Rome; during these journeys he also visited gold mines in Kolyma, where political prisoners were employed. His reports as aviator and correspondent were published in books including Viaggio attorno al mondo (1933), Da solo, traverso i cieli (1934), Al vento delle steppe (1935), Cieli d’Etiopia (1936), Vita selvaggia (1938), In volo traverso i secoli (1941), and Il Marco Polo (1952)

Coming from Italy, which he described enthusiastically, he reported having received around one hundred gold and silver medals. - Description: According to Gazzetta Ticinese (May 24, 1924), engineer Fibinger (whose name may also appear as Fiebinger) was described as a globe-trotter attempting a round-the-world journey on foot. He set out from San Francisco in 1908 and reached the Dardanelles, where he took part in the First World War by enlisting with the Central Powers. He remained there for four years, suffering several wounds. After resuming his walk, he endured another accident in Tyrol, where he was buried for several hours under an avalanche, an incident confirmed by the Austrian police. By the time he reached Lugano, he claimed to have walked about 68,000 km (42,250 miles), and planned to continue via Chiasso to Genoa. He aimed to return to San Francisco within two and a half years in order to win a 40,000-dollar wager with a Californian club, which required him to complete the journey by December 1928

- Description: According to Libera Stampa (January 7, 1924), Antonio Federico Hauptmann, born in Brunico and with his mother living in Innsbruck, was described as a globe-trotter. He declared that he had begun his world journey in America, where he also claimed to have taken U.S. citizenship, before traveling across Europe and visiting numerous countries while collecting autographs. Later, he ventured into North Africa. From Tripoli he moved towards Misurata, but after straying into the interior he was captured by Arab rebels. Freed during the Italian advance at Seddada, he was flown to Tripoli along with other civilian prisoners

Un globe-trotter è stato trovato fra i prigionieri civili che le truppe italiane in Tripolitania hanno liberato nella loro ultima avanzata, occupando Seddada. Come è noto, per mezzo di aeroplani, i prigionieri liberati furono subito trasportati a Tripoli, dove l’identità dello straniero poté essere meglio accertata. È un globe-trotter: prima di andare a finire prigioniero degli arabi, aveva girato mezzo mondo ed il suo nome è Antonio Federico Hauptmann, nato a Brunico (Alto Adige); egli ha la madre domiciliata a Innsbruck.

- Description: Luigi Pasta, from Turin and a member of the Turin Walking Society, undertook to walk around Italy while pushing a wheelbarrow. The planned route was about 3,000 km (1,860 miles). 3000 chilometri spingendo una cariola. Globe-trotter ne abbiamo visti e ne vediamo tutti i giorni: sportsmen che fanno chi il giro del mondo in aeroplano, chi in auto e chi anche, più comodamente, in un lussuoso yacht. Ma fare il giro d’Italia a piedi spingendo una carriola e guadagnandosi il vitto — non diciamo l’alloggio, perché nell’estate l’albergo della luna o quello delle stelle è sempre gratuito — non è cosa troppo comune né tanto facile.
