Fogg Phileas (w2377)
- Description: Phileas Fogg is the protagonist of Jules Verne's novel "Around the World in Eighty Days." After betting 20'000 pounds with the other members of the Reform Club, he sets off on a journey around the world that he must complete within a limit of 80 days (by 8:45 on December 21, 1872). His route and travel times were as follows: from London to Suez, passing through the Mont Cenis and then Brindisi (seven days); from Suez to Bombay (thirteen days); from Bombay to Calcutta (three days); from Calcutta to Hong Kong (thirteen days); from Hong Kong to Yokohama (six days); from Yokohama to San Francisco (twenty-two days); from San Francisco to New York (seven days); from New York to London (nine days). This itinerary would later be imitated by various travelers who attempted to match or beat Phileas Fogg's record
