Gulliver Lemuel (w2184)

  • Description: Lemuel Gulliver is the protagonist of Jonathan Swift’s satirical masterpiece Gulliver’s Travels (1726). Introduced as an English surgeon and sailor born in 1661, Gulliver narrates his astonishing adventures: he is shipwrecked in Lilliput, land of the tiny; brought to Brobdingnag, the realm of giants; visits Laputa, the floating island of obsessive scientists; and finally reaches the land of the Houyhnhnms, rational horses living without deceit, opposed to the brutish Yahoos. Through these voyages, Swift didn’t merely invent imaginary lands—he exposed the hypocrisies of politics, science, and society
