Stokes Harry R. (w2657)
- Description: On November 1, 1889, Stokes began a round-the-world journey accompanied by George W. Burston: they were the first Australians to undertake the venture. With their velocipedes (penny-farthing machines), they left Melbourne heading for Sydney. Their route touched Java, Singapore, India, Egypt, Europe. They returned to Australia via the United States, where, however, they did not use their bikes. They described their journey in the book "Round the World on Bicycles"
