- Description: Inspired by Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolence, Prem Kumar, a student of physics, international politics and Indian philosophy at Gujarat University, departed from Ahmadabad, India, on 2 October 1982 on a solo peace walk around the world. The route passed through Italy, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan. After nearly four years and approximately 8,000 miles (12,875 km) across 14 countries, he planned to conclude his march in Nagasaki on 9 August 1986 - the 41st anniversary of the atomic bomb. He carried no sponsorship and relied entirely on donations
