- Description: The two brothers set off in 1936 from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and arrived in London the following year. Their improvised bicycle journey allowed them to avoid conscription. They left without money and with makeshift means to venture on tracks and rare roads, covering 11'000 km. They wrote a diary narrating their experience, titled "The Road to London"

- Description: Emilio Balli, in 1878-1879, took part in one of the first round-the-world trips organized by a society of scholars and European tourists. The journey commenced in Marseille on August 1, 1878, aboard the ship Junon operated by the company Fraissinet. Due to financial difficulties of the organizer, the journey was halted in New York. Emilio Balli and his Geneva friend Alfred Bertrand continued on their own, visiting North America and crossing the Pacific to reach Japan, China, and India. After about 14 months, they returned home through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, stopping in Alexandria, Egypt, Naples, and finally docking in Marseille on September 27, 1879

- Description: Erwin George “Cannonball” Baker was a motorcyclist, car racer, and organizer famed for setting over 140 point‑to‑point records. His most celebrated run occurred in 1933 when he drove from New York City to Los Angeles in 53.5 hours (approx. 2,276 km /1,414 miles) in a Graham‑Paige Model 57 Blue Streak 8—a record that stood for nearly 30 years until 1964. In 1941, he completed a trouble‑free 6,517 miles (10,488 km) run in a Crosley Covered Wagon, to demonstrate its fuel economy and reliability. These drives inspired the later Cannonball Baker Sea‑to‑Shining‑Sea Memorial Trophy Dash - better known as the “Cannonball Run” - which itself inspired multiple films and a TV series

Just in their twenties and living off a shoestring budget, three young Parsis, one from Baroda, ventured on the first ever trip around the world on bicycles on October 15, 1923. The trio covered 44,000 miles in three years and three months across 27 countries and four continents. On their return, Adi Hakim from Vadodara, Jal Bapasola from Mumbai and Rustom Bhumgara from Pune, who later became a freedom fighter, wrote a book of their memoirs from the epic journey, of which but a few copies still exist. The original book includes a foreword by Jawarharlal Nehru and comments from leaders around the world like Benito Mussolini and Calvin Coolidge.”
