Chapin Daniel (w1745)

  • Description: In January 2010, Daniel Chapin, a youth advocate and activist from Orange County, California, embarked on a walk from California to Tennessee and then to Washington D.C., with a brief rest in Nashville, Tennessee. This journey was organized to promote community solidarity and raise awareness of the importance of faith-based youth programs across the nation. Chapin, a youth pastor and marriage counselor, was inspired by his experiences with young people in Garden Grove, California. He noted a lack of community and unity in churches, often marked by division and doctrinal differences. Throughout his journey across America's heartland, Chapin was hosted at various venues that shared his vision of inter-community solidarity, such as the Roadrunner Hostel in Tucson, Arizona, and spoke at churches, city halls, and similar places. He completed the walk without a cell phone or support vehicles, relying on teams and individuals he met along the way for travel arrangements and accommodations
